Hi Everyone,
Foreclosures here finally seem to be winding down - though there are still 81 active foreclosures in our MLS - this includes many areas on the mainland also. Currently that is out of a total of 2192 listings. There are also 199 short sales ( homes where the seller owes the lender more than the house will sell for ). Curently only 7 foreclosures have gone to closing in September thus far - though Hurricane Earl did take a few days out of the sales market.
Less foreclosures may mean that prices here are at or near bottom - time will tell. Still a great time to be a buyer with the inventory, low prices and great interest rates - owning a home in the Outer Banks will always have value for anyone who loves beauty, nature, relaxation, great restaurants, fishing, boating, swimming, golfing ... Need I say more!
Best,
Carol
